Why Do I Do This to Myself?
Vanity Fair and I aren't getting along right now. I was able to get through about 100 pages, but then I realized I was very bored. I think this is a book I will need to tackle in sections. I'll read a few pages every now and then. Maybe I'll try to read fifty pages or so at a time. I may be able to tackle Jane Austen in a similar way one day. I admit I had high hopes for Vanity Fair. In the beginning I was encouraged and found it very easy to read. While it hasn't gotten any more difficult to read, it's not in a very entertaining place right now. I have many, many more books sitting here that I would much rather tackle right now. So, I'm moving on for the time being. I'll come back to Vanity Fair eventually. Maybe I'll read a little more when I've finished my next book. Now I'm tackling something a bit more interesting to me. The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Yes, I think it's about time I put a little Sherlock Holmes into the mix. I'm very much looking forward to it!

Oh the Anguish!
Wow, The Time Traveler's Wife is intense. I loved it, but it is not necessarily a happy, happy book. It was very raw and emotional. Parts of it made me almost sick to my stomach and other parts made me cry my eyes out. Still other parts made me laugh out loud. It is definitely not a book for the faint of heart. Audrey Niffenegger really knows how to write a strange and touching book. The other book that I read by her was almost just as strange. I am curious to see what she comes up with next. Next on my list is Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray. I have already started reading it and I think this is one classic that I might actually get through. So far it's interesting. I just hope it can hold my interest.
